United Way Values:
What United Way Stakeholders Need to Know
Partnerships and relationships between people and organizations are built on mutual trust and understanding. Insights into an organization's principals and standards can be had by looking at its values. Values are the "glue" that binds us together as we work together towards common goals and objectives.
These values are at the core of what United Way is about as an organization. Leadership and staff are expected to share these and reflect them in actions, attitudes and approaches toward decision-making. They are values we hope to see in United Way's strategic partners.
Integrity & Accountability
Honesty, forthrightness and responsibility in dealing with others
Mutual Respect & Fairness
Consideration of others' ideas and feelings, and communicating in a manner that preserves the dignity of others
Improved Quality of Life
A commitment and service for community health and well being
Community Ownership
Engagement with volunteers, donors and partners
Excellence
The constant pursuit of excellence
When there is no precedent to actions or activities that United Way may be undertaking, it is these values that will guide us, both individually and as an organization.
Your relationship with United Way is critical to our success and our ability to help the community thrive. These values have been approved by the Board of Directors of United Way of Greater Cleveland. They were introduced to the board with the help of guest speaker Peter Rea. Rea is the chairman of and professor in the division of business administration at Baldwin-Wallace College and the author of Integrity Is a Growth Market.
We hope that you will find these guidelines of value when interacting with United Way.
