Pat currently serves as Managing Partner for the Northeast Ohio practice of Deloitte & Touche LLP. Pat spends most of his time serving as the advisory Partner on the publicly traded companies including Applied Industrial Technologies, Cedar Fair (Cedar Point), Preformed Lines, Cleveland Cliffs, and Ferro Corporation. In this role, Pat serves as a trusted business advisor to the CEOs, CFOs and the audit committee chairs. Pat has served as the Lead Client Service Partner on a number of both audit and relationship accounts in the Cleveland Practice including The Richard E. Jacobs Group, KeyCorp, National City Bank and Aleris International.
Prior to becoming Managing Partner, Pat was the Partner in Charge of the tax practice for Northeast Ohio and the Regional Managing Tax Partner for the North Central Region. Additionally, Pat has been involved in a number of firm activities including chairing both the Partner Compensation Committee and the new Partner & Director Committee. Pat co-chaired the Human Resource task force at the time of the merger of Deloitte & Touche which designed the strategy which has allowed Deloitte to be recognized annually by Fortune Magazine as one of the 100 Best Places to Work in the U.S. Pat is also one of the founders of the firm's Diversity Initiative. Deloitte was recently recognized by Diversity Magazine as one of America's best places to work for minorities.
During most of Pat's career, he has specialized in the tax problems of high-net worth individuals and corporate executives, including income tax planning, investment planning, estate and gift tax planning and review and analysis of various types of alternative investments. Pat currently services four families who are included in the Forbes 400 list of the wealthiest families in America including the Jacob's, the Mandel's, and the Lewis' families. Pat was one of the first CPA's in America to be certified as a Financial Planning Specialist (FPS). His FPS certificate number is "10". Pat was also an Adjunct Professor of Income Taxation at the University of Akron for a number of years.
