Each year, various departments within University Hospitals Health System participate in the Annual United Way Basket Raffle.
This event, however, is no ordinary basket raffle. Departments spend months thinking of creative, fun basket ideas that will captivate, fascinate and motivate people to buy tickets
to raise money for the Hospital's United Way Campaign.
This year the basket raffle included 53 baskets ranging from a "Tool Time" basket that included a Craftsman Tool Cart and a variety of Craftsman tools (valued at $750)
to a Chef's Kitchen basket that included a Cuisinart, A George Foreman Grill and a plethora of kitchen utensils and cookbooks (valued at $1300). Raffle tickets were sold
24 hours a day for four straight days. So many tickets were sold this year that extra containers to hold the tickets had to be brought in by the second day.
The hospital hit a new milestone, raising more money than previous years. The grand total for the 2006 United Way/University Hospitals Basket Raffle was $25,555!
