In More Ways Than One, Leading Hospitals Heal Greater Cleveland
Sometimes getting the job done in healthcare requires innovation...and it always requires a commitment to excellence. These traits not only apply to the professionalism of the nurses, relationship managers, healthcare experts, researchers and doctors at work but in their capacity as United Way volunteers and leaders.
At University Hospitals (UH), early special campaign event success indicates that this year will be a record breaking campaign. It all began with an ice cream kickoff in September when over 500 cups of donated Pierre's Ice Cream were given away. Since then, the special events UH has held have been tremendously successful. This year's basket (prize) raffle raised over $20,000- almost twice as much as the year before. In another incredible, innovative United Way fundraiser, the UH team led by Patty DePompei was able to sell over $12,000 worth of Krispy Kreme donuts -- that is over five vans full -- last month.
The Cleveland Clinic Foundation (CCF) is also on track have a record breaking campaign. Under the leadership of Michael O'Boyle, Chief Operating Officer, and Michael Levine, MD, Chairman, Division of Pediatrics, they will personally be asking each physician to make a leadership commitment to United Way. Combined with an aggressive system-wide campaign, CCF's campaign will be over the $1 million mark for the first time.
These are just two of the great leading healthcare institutions that are making a difference not only in the United Way campaign but are truly impacting the future of Greater Cleveland. Although healthcare is big business, it is also a business filled with compassion for people and a desire to make our community a vibrant, dynamic place.
Thank you for all that you do to allow United Way to help people be the best that they can be!
