    Campaign Spotlight
The employees of Cargill Deicing Technology in North Olmsted certainly know a thing or two about how to put the "fun" in fundraising and it has become a successful formula for a company that consistently ranks among area leaders in employee participation.

Cargill Employees photoCargill's United Way team of Carol Chandler, Dolores Fenske, Claudia Clinton, Jeanne Donnelly, Nadine Gilbert and Daphne Pummell have come up with many winning ideas for special events, ranging from Pancake breakfasts to basket sales. So what does this enterprising team do to top the enthusiasm of last year's campaign which raised $49,158 for United Way of Greater Cleveland and earned the company recognition as one of 25 North American location winners of the Cargill Champions Fund Award?

Plans for the 2007 Pacesetter campaign include a cookout for building employees and a "pie in the face" contest along with other fun activities. ECM Carol Chandler says that these fun-type events are designed to motivate as well as educate employees on the importance of United Way to the community.

Cargill will also be participating in a Day of Caring at Beech Brook, a United Way partner agency in Pepper Pike, to provide a hands-on experience for employees leading to more engagement and civic responsibility.

"The strong support of Cargill employees is a testament to their dedication to strengthening the community in which they live and work," says Dale Fehrenbach, President, Deicing Technology Business Unit Leader.

All Cargill Deicing Technology contributions from Cleveland-area facilities totaled $98,576. The $49,158 raised in North Olmsted includes the Champions Fund Award, employee and retiree contributions as well as a corporate and facility match and represents a 15% increase over 2005 donations. In addition, Cargill Deicing Technology's Cleveland Mine raised $49,418, a 45% increase over this facility's contributions in 2005.

Contributions by Cargill employees and businesses nationwide totaled a record $9.26 million for the 2006 campaign.
