    GuitarMania GuitarManiaŽ Returns!
    Announcement made October 30, 2006 at the Rock Hall

    United Way of Greater Cleveland's GuitarMania, the public art project that rocked Cleveland in 2002 and 2004, will return to Cleveland streets in summer 2007, and a press conference to announce its return was held Monday, October 30, 2006 at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum.

    "We are pleased to announce the return of GuitarMania's oversize guitars transformed into works of art," said K. Michael Benz, United Way President and CEO. "This project has raised more than $1.6 million to support the health and human service programs in the community and the Rock Hall's education fund."

    Two SuperSponsors, Eaton Corporation and KeyBank, have already committed to GuitarMania. Additional project sponsors include: Fender Musical Instruments Corporation, Clear Channel, Cleveland Magazine, cleveland.com, Continental Airlines, Convention & Visitors Bureau of Greater Cleveland, The Plain Dealer, Sherwin-Williams and Turner Construction.

    The stage is set for the official GuitarMania launch. The two previous GuitarMania events have raised more than $1.6 million for our community.

    Downtown Cleveland Councilman Joe Cimperman addressed the crowd and welcomed the project on behalf of the City of Cleveland. GuitarMania SuperSponsor representatives, Karen White, KeyBank Vice President, District Community Relations, and Don McGrath, Eaton Corporation Vice President of Communications, donned genuine FenderŽ StratocasterŽ guitars to rock the listeners.

    Jason Farrell, Fender Musical Instruments Corp., traveled from Fender's headquarters in Scottsdale, Arizona to support the project and to announce It's All Guitars! Terry Stewart, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum CEO, spoke about the education programs that GuitarMania helps to fund at the Rock Hall.
