United Way of Greater Cleveland Annual Meeting March 7

      February 21, 2008 (Cleveland, Ohio)

United Way of Greater Cleveland's annual meeting will take place at the Renaissance Cleveland Hotel at Public Square on Friday, March 7, from 11:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Nearly 1,200 people are expected to attend what will be one of the largest gatherings of health and human service community leaders in Northeast Ohio this year. The United Way of Greater Cleveland Annual Meeting will recognize the past year's accomplishments as well as new directions, celebrate the end of the 2007 campaign, and announce the results of the campaign.

      Meeting Highlights:

    • United Way of Greater Cleveland's Chairman of the Board, Henry L. Meyer III, will speak on the state of the organization, reviewing accomplishments of the past year and addressing the exciting new direction and expanded mission of this 95-year-old health and human services organization. Mr. Meyer's term as United Way Board Chairman is coming to a successful conclusion, and he will introduce the 2008-2010 Board Chairman, Sandra Pianalto, President and CEO of the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland.

    • Campaign Co-Chairs Philip L. Rice, President and CEO of National City Bank, and Paul Clark, President of Northern Ohio Banking, National City Bank, will be honored for their inspired direction of the 2007 Campaign. The 2008 Campaign Co-Chairs, Marc S. Byrnes, Chairman and CEO, Oswald Companies, and Christopher M. Connor, Chairman and CEO, The Sherwin-Williams Company, will be introduced.

    • United Way partners have set new benchmarks of community service. 211/First Call For Help handled more than 158,000 calls in 2007-a 275 percent increase in volume over the past decade. United Way's Community Vision Council invested more than $1.2 million in initiatives benefiting community health, education, employment training, seniors and family programs.

    • The 2007 United Way of Greater Cleveland Campaign results will be announced and recognition will be given to all those who worked so hard to provide the resources to meet our community's health and human service needs.

    • This event will be an opportunity to hear from leaders in the health and human services community.
