United Way 2006 Campaign Kick-Off and Pancake Flip
Local Celebs Serve Up Short Stacks for Breakfast
August 7, 2006 (Cleveland, Ohio)
Flapjacks on the Square? Pass the syrup as United Way of Greater Cleveland kicks off its 2006 campaign on the Southwest Quadrant of Public Square Thursday, September 7, from 7 to 10:30 a.m. Local celebrities and business leaders will flip pancakes to support our community through United Way. At 8 a.m., Henry L. Meyer III, United Way Board Chairman and KeyCorp Chairman and CEO, will join United Way Campaign Co-Chairs Robert H. Rawson, Jr., Partner-In-Charge, Jones Day Cleveland office, and Robert J. King, Jr., Managing Partner, Western Reserve Partners LLC, as they announce the 2006 United Way Campaign Goal.
"We are truly thankful for the generosity of the people of Greater Cleveland in past campaigns, and hopeful that they will continue to contribute to the many crucial health and social service programs United Way supports," said Rawson. "I agree," said King, "We hope this year folks will once again support the United Way campaign and our community."
It's anticipated that more than 7000 pancakes will be prepared and over 2300 breakfasts will be served. A breakfast of pancakes, sausage, orange juice and coffee is only $5.00. Deliveries can be made to downtown locations (minimum order five breakfasts, maximum 15) by faxing back a downloadable form or by calling 216-436-2121 by 4 p.m. on Wednesday, September 6. For the past few years, more than 1000 breakfasts have been delivered downtown each year in this fun and delicious event.
WTAM 1100's Wills and Coleman radio show will broadcast live from the United Way Campaign Kick-Off and Pancake Flip. The WDOK Fifth Third Bank Money Machine will be there as well, along with many other fun activities.
