A Family Approach to Parental Skills
Training Bill and Petique Oeflein
have a pretty good family situation. But it wasn't
always this way. Their son Max had them "at the end of
their rope" with his aggressive behavior. Then they
found out about a program that helps parents understand
how to handle their kids' behavior problems, and the

Sports and Food Fans Meet for Tasty
Event Sports
Treasures and Palate Pleasures at the Fabulous Food Show in the
I-X Center on Friday evening, November 14, capped off
the annual weeklong WTAM online sports auction. This new
United Way fundraising event featured live and silent
auctions loaded with sports, entertainment and culinary
items and experience packages, plus a rousing bartending
demonstration by Australian mixologist Hayden Wood of
the Liquid Kitchen. More>>
Volunteers Spend Day at Beech
Brook On October
1, more than 100 Cleveland Clinic employees, through
United Way's Days of Caring program, did renovation work
at Beech Brook, a United Way partner agency that helps
youths and families. Clinic volunteers gave Beech
Brook's facilities a much-needed makeover and completed
several projects, including sorting clothing donations,
cleaning cabins and landscaping work. More>>

8th Annual eBay Auction promises an exciting
array of fantastic items up for bid, including
Continental Airlines tickets, sports events tickets and
many other great sports and entertainment packages. The
auction goes live online January 23 and runs through
February 1, with proceeds benefiting United Way of

U.S. Figure Skating Championships
Tickets
The 2009 U.S. Figure Skating Championships are
coming to Cleveland and United Way of Greater Cleveland
is an official local partner! This premier figure
skating competition will be held January 18 - 25, 2009
at Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland and Hoover Arena in
Strongsville. All the elite figure skaters in the U.S.
will compete as they begin their push for the 2010
Olympics in Vancouver. United Way has been granted the
right to offer a 10 percent discount on the sale of
single event tickets (Sessions 6 through 15) and will
receive a $2 donation from the sale of each of these
