NOVEMBER 2009
Pacesetters Pave the Way for a
Successful Campaign by Raising $4.9
Million Thank you
to the
116 companies and organizations that have raised more than $4.9 million in
this year's United Way Pacesetter program. Their efforts
will help support 202 health and human service programs
that help more than 400,000 Greater Cleveland residents
every year. Programs that serve meals to those who are
hungry; keep our kids on positive educational paths;
help deliver health care to people without insurance and
much, much more. By achieving their ambitious goals and
running early campaigns they have put their marks on a
better world for all of us. Please join them and
give
as generously as you
can
to this year's United Way
campaign.

Please Support Issue 4 for Cuyahoga Community
College The United Way of Greater
Cleveland Board of Directors endorses Issue 4 and
encourages Cuyahoga County voters to join them and vote
for Tri-C's latest 10-year levy on November 3. Passage
of Issue 4 will go a long way toward keeping this
dynamic college open and accessible. Education is the
path out of poverty and Tri-C offers affordable
education for more than 30,000 full-time students. The
levy is a 1.6-mill replacement and a 0.3-mill increase,
the latter to compensate for state budget cuts,
decreased property values and foreclosures. It's a
modest increase -- about $18 more a year in property
taxes on a $100,000 home -- that would reap about $56
million per year for the college. Please vote for Issue
4.
