THE LIVES YOU

Financial literacy leads to home
ownership Timothy Shaw grew up in two different worlds --
living in an upscale home owned by his father in a
Chicago suburb, and also living in a two-family home his
mother rented in Cleveland's inner city. Since he knew
firsthand some of the drawbacks of renting, Tim's goal
was to own a home by the time he was 30. He had some
financial issues to deal with. With the guidance of the
Cleveland Housing Network, Tim signed up for the series
of classes that cover the process of purchasing a home,
clearing up your credit, determining how much you can
afford, mortgage terms, and the art of successful home
ownership. Find out how Tim made his goal a
reality

Imagine riding your bike for 3,300 miles for United
Way
Paul Renshaw, a consultant with
Deloitte & Touche LLP, and Dan Rindfleisch, a recent
graduate of Ohio State University, are out there
somewhere in North
Dakota biking across America to support
United Way of Greater Cleveland. Their journey began
Saturday, August 15, in Middleburg Heights and will end
nearly 3,300 miles away in Anacortes, Washington. They
expect the trip to take about six weeks. Why take such a
journey? They
hope to raise $25,000 for United Way.
Follow their travels through their blog
. And you can help, while just sitting at
your computer. Please make an online donation through
