Autographed Helmets Offer Fans
a Piece of Grand Prix History
Fourteen custom-painted racing helmets autographed by top Champ Car drivers and racing legend Bobby Rahal are up for bid in a series of auctions through 2007 to raise money for United Way of Greater Cleveland.
The helmets were individually designed and painted with Sherwin-Williams automotive paint by thirteen Cleveland-area automotive shops and artists. Each helmet was autographed by the top three finishers at the 2006 Grand Prix of Cleveland--A.J. Allmendinger, Bruno Junqueira and Oriol Servia--as well as racing legend Bobby Rahal, winner of the inaugural Grand Prix of Cleveland in 1982.
Each Bell Vortex Signature Helmet is a replica helmet not to be worn for protection and does not meet any certification standards for motorcycle, street or competition use. The third helmet, now up for auction, was designed and painted by MadLab Custom and Collision in Euclid, Ohio. The custom, hand-painted helmet features dramatic colored flames and has a unique high velocity design.
All four racing legend signatures are located on the top and side of the helmet. You can view and bid on this helmet on eBay. All proceeds from the helmets sold on eBay will benefit United Way.
