Ford Donates Shelby GT Fender Strat to United Way
Ford Motor Company announced at the Cleveland Auto Show on February 23 the automaker's generous support of GuitarMania, including a fantastic, #1 limited edition Fender® Stratocaster® guitar you can bid on, signed by automotive legend Carroll Shelby.
Ford Motor is sponsoring two of the GuitarMania 9-foot-tall Fender Stratocaster replicas and letting its best designers take creative license with the company's entries in this internationally recognized community art project and fundraiser for United Way of Greater Cleveland and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's education fund. Ford spokesman Randy Ortiz, Ford and Lincoln Mercury U.S. sales general manager, added that the company will donate to United Way the very first model in a limited-edition, 200-guitar run of real Fender Stratocasters finished with a racing stripe inspired by the 2007 Ford Shelby GT designed by famed automotive designer Carroll Shelby.
Ford will offer the Shelby Stratocasters through its Ford Collection Web site. Only Serial Number 1 -- the guitar going to United Way -- will be signed by Carroll Shelby himself! This super, limited edition guitar will be put up for bid at the GuitarMania auction in October at the Rock Hall, with proceeds benefiting United Way of Greater Cleveland and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's education fund.
