Tips
- Meet with your United Way Staff or Loaned Executive (LE). We are here to help you establish a goal and learn Best Practices.
- Enlist leadership support. Ask your district superintendent, principal and/or union representative to send a letter promoting United Way to all employees.
- Make it fun and educational! Incorporate UW speakers into your curriculum.
- Involve your students. Form a student committee to plan and implement Special Events such as penny wars, dress down days and bake sales.
- Consider classroom competition. Healthy competition between grades or classes can result in increased giving.
- Publicize your campaign and your established goal for United Way. It is important for all participants to have a target to strive to achieve.
- Encourage all colleagues to personally support the campaign through a payroll deduction pledge to United Way. Making the Ask is most successful when done face to face!
Say Thank you! Send Thank You Notes or Certificates to participants or top fundraising class once the campaign is completed. Consider holding a thank you event to complete the campaign.
