Community Solutions - Community Vision Leadership Council Community Solutions

    Community Vision Council: Senior Success

    GOAL:
To support full lives with dignity for seniors.

    PRIORITIES:
    • Develop a coordinated senior transportation system that is accessible and affordable for all seniors in Cuyahoga County.
    • Increase the community's capacity to meet the care- giving needs of seniors.

    RESULTS:
In 2007, its final year of CVC funding, Senior Transportation Connection of Cuyahoga County provided an average of more than 6,600 rides for seniors each month. Richmond Heights began coordinating its senior transit with STC's call center in 2007, bringing the total to 14 communities in Cuyahoga County now being served.

The Benefits Enrollment and Access Initiative convened a work group of 20 members to begin implementation. Western Reserve Area Agency on Aging, being the regional planning body for older adult services, was identified as the lead organization.

    NEXT STEPS:
Senior Transportation Connection of Cuyahoga County plans to add 18 new vehicles and centralize administrative and call center operations.

The Benefits Enrollment and Access Initiative will continue the implementation phase and work to identify other potential funding sources to support the initiative.
