Hylant Group Inc. Conducts Excellent Pacesetter Campaign
Integrity and trust. These are two traits that United Way of Greater Cleveland shares with Hylant Group Inc, a business insurance agency with about 90 employees based in Independence. Hylant is one of the outstanding small businesses that have brought renewed vigor to United Way's entrepreneur/small enterprise development efforts.
"Hylant is the kind of business we want to have more involved with the United Way family. Their pacesetter campaign this year is the kind of great result I am working hard to encourage across the entire campaign," Henry Meyer, the Chairman of the 2005 United Way Campaign says.
What is Mr. Meyer so enthusiastic about? Hylant, which has run United Way campaigns since 1999 decided to pull out front this year and lead the way with a pacesetter campaign. Under the leadership of Hylant President Michael Hylant and Sales Manager and Hylant's employee campaign manager (ECM) Dan Fischer, they ran an enthusiastic, record setting campaign.
"Dan did a great job this year organizing United Way's campaign at Hylant. People had fun and yet the important message was clear: their gift to United Way was vital because it was going to help people in need in our community," Mr. Hylant explained. A clearly defined message, CEO support combined with guidance from United Way provided the help Mr. Fischer needed to put together a successful campaign that connected with employees.
"I tried to do a variety of activities during the campaign to get people involved" says Mr. Fischer, reflecting on the campaign that ran from August 11 to September 1. "We held raffles, had a 50/50 drawing, a penny pail contest and a wrap up Bar-B-Q. The competitions were competitive, but fun. It was something that we could do together as a group for a great cause."
At the end of the day, the total amount raised in this small business pacesetter campaign was $17,424. Hylant's goal was $11,470, so they exceeded their goal by over 50 percent. Mr. Hylant says "I am glad everyone enjoyed these activities, but more importantly, I am so proud of them for coming together at this important time to help people in our community in need. What we do as individuals and as a company makes an impact in dealing with pressing problems facing our community. It also gave our employees an opportunity to enhance their teambuilding skills for a great cause."
