Campaign Profile: Forest City Superheroes
Forest City Enterprises employees don't leap tall buildings with a single bound, but they do reach for the heights when it comes to their annual United Way company campaign.
Nearly 90 percent of Forest City's 745 employees last year pledged donations to United Way. Its Pacesetter campaign in 2005 ranked fifth largest overall in Cuyahoga County.
This year the campaign kicked off on July 25 with a goal of over $700,000. And to spur on this effort in a "comic" way, Forest City produced in-house posters depicting its top brass as well-known comic book superheroes with the theme, "It doesn't take a superhero to make a difference." These posters are displayed throughout Forest City's downtown offices to inspire superheroic generosity from its staff.
Forest City gives employees great incentives for donating, awarding prizes such as vacation trips and even the use of a brand new car for a year. Its annual campaign concludes with an appreciation luncheon and party in September.
Holy donations, Batman! Forest City employees do make a difference, and United Way is super grateful!
