    Pacesetter Challenge

Heighten your company’s public image as a visible corporate community citizen
By conducting early and ambitious campaigns, Pacesetter organizations jump-start United Way's annual campaign, raising new dollars to create opportunities to improve the quality of life for all Greater Clevelanders. You can get in on the race for the 2008 campaign... just drop us a line. Our thanks to the 2008 Pacesetters who have committed to set the pace for a strong and successful campaign. Set the pace
    Pacesetter companies and organizations...
    • Strive to secure the greatest amount of new dollars up front
    • Help jump-start the annual campaign
    • Run an early campaign (June – Sept.) with an ambitious goal (minimum 5 percent increase over last year’s results)
    • Benefit from increased United Way staff and Loaned Executive support
    • Receive special recognition and incentives
    Stretch your potential...Reach your goals
    Pacesetter companies and organizations are...
    • Unique, and therefore require a customized approach for strategizing and setting goals
    • Chosen, in part, based on the prior year’s employee participation and per capita giving
    • Positioned with great potential to increase giving
    • Committed to strengthening our community by setting the pace for United Way’s fall campaign

United Way volunteers and staff members are dedicated to ensuring your success by working with you to develop a realistic, yet challenging, goal based on the following suggested increases:
    Pacesetter Employee Participation Goals Graph
EXAMPLE: If your 2007 employee participation (# donors/# employees) was 39 percent, we recommend that you consider an 8-10 percent increase over your 2007 employee results.
    Pacesetter Per Capita Goals Graph
EXAMPLE: If your 2007 employee per capita gift (total employee $/# employees) was $84, we recommend a 10-12 percent increase over your 2007 employee results.

If your company is interested in becoming a 2008 Pacesetter, please contact Nicole Langlois at
    (216) 436-2184 or your United Way staff person.
